From an idea to a viable, sustainable and connected project

A practical lab designed to turn a cultural idea into a clearer, more viable and sustainable project. Over eight weeks, you will work on your own initiative through practical tools, guidance and spaces for exchange with artists and cultural practitioners from different territories.
What is Fes! Cultura?
Fes! Cultura is an incubator for cultural projects with social impact that promotes the participation of diverse individuals and collectives in the creation of transformative cultural initiatives. It explores collaborative forms of learning and production involving artists, cultural managers and other professionals in the sector in the development of sustainable cultural initiatives.
Cultural Projects Lab
This edition of Fes! Cultura offers an online lab aimed at migrant and racialised artists and cultural practitioners who want to develop or strengthen a cultural project with social impact. Throughout the programme, we will work on each initiative, from defining its purpose and the change it seeks to bring about to its planning, budgeting, sustainability and communication, combining cultural management tools with a cultural rights and anti-racist perspective.
The aim is for each participant to complete the lab with a clearer, more structured and viable project, capable of generating cultural and social value in its context, as well as with tools to continue developing it and new connections within the cultural ecosystem.
Who is it for?
Fes! Cultura #MigrantAction is aimed at migrant and racialised artists, cultural practitioners and collectives living in Spain who are developing an initiative in the fields of arts, creative practice or culture with social impact. The open call welcomes proposals from different disciplines and formats, including performing arts, visual arts, music, audiovisual, digital culture, publishing, community arts, cultural management and interdisciplinary initiatives.
The lab is designed both for those starting with an initial idea and looking to turn it into a structured proposal, and for those who already have a project underway and want to review it, strengthen it and explore new possibilities to make it viable and sustainable.
Programme
Throughout the lab, each participant will work on their own idea or project, progressively incorporating the tools and learning from each session.
- 13 October · INTRODUCTION
We introduce Fes! Cultura, the learning journey and the participating projects. We share the cultural rights and anti-racist approach, the working methodology and the group’s working agreements.
- 20 October · EXPLORE
We start from the initial idea to analyse the context, identify capacities, communities and opportunities, and define the cultural and social challenge we want to address.
- 27 October · FOCUS
We define the project’s purpose, the change we want to bring about, its objectives and expected outcomes, and its value proposition.
- 3 November · PLAN
We turn the strategic approach into an action plan by defining activities, methodology, resources, responsibilities, phases and timeline.
- 10 November · IMPROVE
We define how to observe the project’s results, gather evidence and learning, and use this information to make decisions and improve.
- 17 November · SCALE
We calculate the work, resources and costs required to develop the project. We work on budgeting, funding, management models, taxation and contracting.
- 24 November · MAKE IT SUSTAINABLE
We explore how to sustain the project over time and build a model that connects its value proposition, activities, partnerships, resources, costs and sources of income.
- 1 December · CONNECT
We define the project’s identity, positioning and narrative. We identify audiences, stakeholders and potential partnerships, and work with tools to communicate and present the project.
- 8 December · CLOSING
We share the projects developed, reflect on the main learning and connections, and identify opportunities for collaboration and next steps beyond the lab.
Community Gatherings
Throughout the lab, four community gatherings will take place, focused on peer learning, the exchange of experiences and the creation of connections between participating projects. Starting from concrete situations, the group will be able to identify shared challenges, discover resources and capacities, compare decisions and explore possible forms of collaboration and continuity.
- 22 October · Shared Challenges
We bring the projects together to identify experiences, affinities, capacities and shared resources, fostering mutual recognition and identifying the first opportunities for connection.
- 12 November · Capacities and Connections
We identify the knowledge, experiences, resources and networks that already exist within the projects, the group and their wider contexts, and explore how to connect, share and turn them into new possibilities.
- 26 November · Decisions and Dilemmas
We work with real decisions and dilemmas faced by the projects to compare alternatives, incorporate new perspectives and share criteria and experiences that can help define the next steps.
- 3 December · Relationships and Next Steps
We revisit the connections built throughout the lab, identify complementarities and explore collaborations, shared resources and forms of continuity, defining possible next steps to keep these connections active.

The open call is open until 28 September 2026 (inclusive).
Places are limited. The selection process will seek to create a diverse group in terms of gender, territories, disciplines, professional trajectories and experiences. Participation is free of charge.
